    What is Cartogram's differentiation?
    Cartogram does these things much better than the competition 1. Content Management (Create/Update/Edit indoor map content) – Ability to ingest floor plans, fire escape maps and create great looking maps that can be used in the app. Content update can happen right from the mobile device. It does not take a seasoned IT pro to update map content (such as location of men’s shoes). It can be done by any store manager or venue owner who knows how to use a smartphone 2. Google Maps integration - Deep integration with Google allows us to leverage the best, dominant maps platform today while providing us a huge set of indoor maps to accompany our private collection of indoor maps which grows daily. 3.Our solution is applicable to various segments such as retail, conferences, trade shows, museums and hotels. 4. Mall search will change the way the world shops. We have product data available for over 300 malls with up-to-date inventory. Our product search is world-class.

    How are you going to compete with Google? Aren’t they mapping everything out already?
    Cartogram doesn’t compete with Google. Instead, Cartogram complements the infrastructure that Google has already built into their indoor maps and Maps API. There are 3 ways to import maps into Cartogram, and one of those is to integrate existing Google indoor maps into Cartogram’s indoor mapping solution. This feature allows users to create hybrid indoor maps which utilize the existing Google Indoor map while overlaying a live, interactive, searchable Cartogram indoor map. Cartogram works WITH Google Maps – it is not a competitor. In summary, if Google continues to invest in indoor maps, then Cartogram will only get better due to increased content availability for Cartogram users.
    If Google gets all the indoor maps, then why would I need Cartogram?
    Cartogram was built from the ground up to support every feature that Google Maps has for indoor buildings. This infrastructure was built to support extension of indoor maps to solve unique business needs that are not being met by Google. There are many of these problems which can be solved with the feature set listed below. To be clear, Cartogram’s goal is not to “get all the maps”. Here are a list of features that Google does not offer: • Live Indoor Maps: Allows map owners to augment their Cartogram maps (which include, but is not limited to, hybrid Google Indoor Maps) with labels that update over time. For example, consider a conference room where you could visually determine what meeting was going on right now or what speaker was speaking. You can think of this feature like as something like a “Harry Potter map” map on your smartphone. • Customizable Indoor Search: Cartogram allows users to see what is going on indoors, but it also allows users to search for things. You can search for an event, a vendor booth, a class, or a room. You can search for anything that a map owner wants you to find. • Indoor location sharing • Nearby messaging • Customizable floor plans: Cartogram places no restriction on the look and feel of the maps, while Google demands a specific style. Businesses have no control over this. Businesses and event organizers can make their maps exactly how they want, or use Cartogram’s premium service to have us do it for them. • Event maps: Google does not support this and has not expressed any interest in this area. • Private Business maps: Google does not provide non-public business maps for obvious reasons. Cartogram will allow businesses to provide delegated access to their internal buildings, including delegated visibility to content in those maps. • Residential maps: Google’s policy prohibits residential maps while Cartogram allows them. A floor plan is a commonly request for a new homebuyer, so this feature is quite useful for real estate. • Easy Updating: Google has a long process for uploading or editing a floor plan. Cartogram allows users to update their maps and push them to every user in under a minute. • Mobile Editing: Cartogram lets users integrate their indoor maps, right on their smartphone, in minutes
    What is Cartogram's story for beacons?
    We will deploy and manage the beacons for our initial trials. We are currently using Kontakt.IO's cloud based beacons to update and monitor our beacon deployments. In the scaled scenario, the goal is to partner with regional beacon service providers to install and support Cartogram beacons. Sending people to support beacon installations, though thought of as a possibility in the short term, would not scale. We don't want to “own” the beacon installation piece long term. We will outsource this work eventually.
    Will Cartogram's patents be issued?
    Eventually, there is a very high likelihood for our applications to become issued patents, but the examiner may require us to narrow our claims or require some requests for continued examination. 4-5 years is a reasonable expectation from the date of filing, but it can be expedited with proper funding (and reason). Ignoring the stats of request for continued examination filings (RCE), something like 75% of patent applications are issued within 4 years from the filing date. Getting a patent isn’t so hard compared to getting an exceptionally broad, protective patent. The quality of the final patent and the scope of its protection is very much tied to the examiner who is assigned to us and the expressiveness in the authoring of the patent application
